AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
There are several options for after school programs at BAM. Berkeley Learns is the BUSD run program which provides both before and after school care, with a wide variety of enrichment activities as well as help with homework; K and 1st grade sections fill up early, so you may want to apply in the spring. The BAM PTA also arranges great after school enrichment programs ranging from STEM to art to music and more. These programs are open to all BAM students (spaces limited) and scholarships are available. New School and the Jewish Community Center offer off-site programs for BAM students.

BAM PTA After School Enrichment
BAM PTA has arranged After School Enrichment programs that are open to all BAM students (spaces limited). Scholarships are also available. For more information, email enrichment@berkeleyartsmagnet.

Berkeley LEARNS District Program
Berkeley LEARNS After School Program is located on-site at BAM. Students can attend part-time (only certain days) or full-time (every day) after school. The daily program consists of a nutritious snack, enrichment classes, recreational activities and homework/academic centers until 6 p.m. Students who are currently enrolled in the program, and their siblings, receive priority placement. Additional slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Jewish Community Center (JCC)
Offsite After-school Program, 1414 Walnut Street (source: www.jcceastbay.org). The JCC’s after school program serves children in TK through fifth grade. The program includes homework help, creative art projects, working in the garden and playing games. Jewish education is integrated into the curriculum. The program is ongoing through the school year and follows the BUSD calendar. Hours are 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. At school dismissal, students walk from BAM to the JCC with JCC staff. Children engage in activities such as science, art, cooking, gardening, sports, drama, and Jewish cultural programming. The New School of Berkeley
Offsite Childcare, 1606 Bonita Street (source: www.newschoolberkeley.org). New School is a preschool and day care center for children 2 through 8 years of age, offering after school care for children in elementary schools until 5:30 pm. There are a variety of scheduling options so that families can choose a schedule best suited to their needs. All programs are five days a week. Students going to New School after their school day gather in the yard at dismissal. They are picked up by a New School teacher who walks them to the school a few blocks away. Bliss Belly Kitchen
Offsite Childcare, 2095 Rose Street, #202. Bliss Belly Kitchen offers after school programming for kids in TK through fifth grades Monday through Friday, from 1:25 – 6:00 and follows the BUSD calendar. Kids will practice breathing and yoga, spend time in nature, make a healthy snack, and get time to do homework and quiet reading. Their site in North Berkeley is just next to Live Oak Park, where children can connect with nature while enjoying playtime and snacks. Bliss Belly Kitchen offers a “walking school bus” from BAM to their site; at school dismissal, students walk from BAM to Bliss Belly with Bliss Belly staff.
