Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI)
A District-wide practice to provide early and appropriate intervention as determined by the school site based on needs assessment(s). RTI support encompass the whole child, and includes social-emotional needs, academic needs, and family needs. An RTI team at BAM is made up of teachers, the principal, special education teachers, a mental health consultant and other designated staff. The team identifies students that need additional support beyond the classroom and address barriers to learning.
Literacy Support
Reading Recovery: A reading intervention for eligible 1st grade students not meeting grade level benchmarks.
Leveled Literacy Instruction: A research based reading intervention program that helps build reading and writing skills.
Reading and Writing Push-in Support: Specialists will go into classrooms and help support reading and writing in the classroom.
Math Support
A math specialist will pull small groups of students and help them build their math skills.
Family and Child Support Services Provider
Bay Area Children First, a non-profit agency, is our social and emotional health services provider. The focus of this partnership is to provide children, families, teachers and school staff with the necessary mental health supports to achieve academic goals. Our service provider collaborates with staff and families to promote positive school climate and culture.
Family Engagement Coordinator
Staff helps to welcome new families and provide resources to families in need. Staff also serve as a liaison so that families are able to participate and communicate effectively with the school.
Before and After School Interventions
In some instances, teachers provide small group instruction outside the school day to targeted students and for specific learning objectives.
