Volunteer

BAM depends on the support of our fabulous parent/guardian community to thrive. Parent/guardian involvement helps build community, engage our children, and create success for the entire school.

 

Whether you have a minute or an hour to spare once a week, once a month, or once a year, and wherever your interests, skills, or passions lie, there exists a rewarding opportunity to make a difference and a positive impact for your children and the community.

 

The PTA has a number of available roles for the 2026-27 school year (see below). If you’re interested in getting involved, with any of these roles or in any other way, please contact pta@berkeleyartsmagnet.org.

EXECUTIVE BOARD OPENINGS:

 VP Community Building/Events, Support: Be part of a team supporting on campus events, gatherings and volunteer efforts.  The event coordinator(s) is in charge of ordering pizza, organizing PTA and  parent volunteers, arranging childcare with BAM staff, and making sure we have enough supplies for meals at community gatherings.

 

VP Welcoming Families: Do you enjoy meeting new people and making connections?  This position welcomes new families, provides information to prospective families, and helps plan community building events.

 

AFFINITY GROUP COMMITTEE CHAIRS

Affinity group committees help build community and provide safe spaces for families who share an identity to engage in specific topics. Chairs/co-chairs conduct outreach, plan special events, (like special Assemblies, BAM’s Black History Night Celebration, Spring Festival and playdates), that bring together the BAM community, and manage the Affinity Group budget. Currently we are looking for:

BAM PTA COMMITTEES:

BAM Jam Fall Carnival Co-Chair: The BAM JAM Fall Carnival Coordinators are responsible for organizing and overseeing the annual fall carnival, a key event in the school’s calendar that aims to foster community spirit and fundraise for school initiatives. Duties include coordinating volunteers, managing event logistics such as games, food, and entertainment, and ensuring safety and enjoyment for students and their families. The coordinator works closely with school staff and parent committees ensuring the carnival’s activities align with the school’s goals, making it a memorable experience for all.

 

Starry Night Auction Co-chair: Join our returning chair for the 2027 event and be responsible for organizing and overseeing the annual school auction, our main spring fundraising event. Duties include managing event logistics such as selecting a venue and food, soliciting donations beginning in the fall, and working closely with a committee of volunteers to organize auction items and pull off a successful in person event or online auction!

 

Runathon Co-Chair: Join our Runathon team and bring a burst of energy to this annual event. You’ll help organize this exciting activity, ensuring seamless communication with teachers and families about event details. Your role will also involve tracking and following up on pledges, contributing to the success of our fundraising initiatives.

 

VOLUNTEER AT BAM COMMUNITY EVENTS:

The PTA and PTA Affinity Groups host beloved monthly community events, from the Community Potluck to the Drag Queen Story Night, Winter Craft Fair, Black History Month event, Spring Festival, and beyond. We also host fun, fantastic fundraising events like the BAM JAM Fall Carnival and Starry Night Gala. All of these community building events and fundraisers are powered by parents and guardians like you, who volunteer for everything from set up and clean up to serving food.
